In the summer of 2024, the life of Thomas Japriece Blackmon, Sr., a 35-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Saturday, June 15, 2024, a violent altercation erupted in the 4000 block of MacDougal Circle, near the intersection of Waverly and Jolly roads. The dispute, which took place at Blackmon's home, ended in a fatal shooting. Blackmon, known affectionately by friends and family as “Tommie Boy” or “Trouble,” was a father to five children.
He was remembered as the life of the party, someone who could command a room with his radiant smile and constant jokes.
The investigation into the homicide quickly identified a suspect. Keijuan Richard Eskin, a 19-year-old, was apprehended in Saginaw in connection with Blackmon's death. Authorities reported that Eskin and Blackmon were together at Blackmon's residence when a fight broke out, during which Eskin allegedly shot Blackmon multiple times.
Following his arrest, Eskin was arraigned in Eaton County on charges of open murder and felony firearm possession. He was denied bond during his initial court appearance. A hearing was scheduled for the beginning of July to determine if there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
