A verbal disagreement inside a Detroit hair salon escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 28-year-old Deante Snow. The incident, which also resulted in the injury of two other men, occurred on the evening of January 22, 2022, at a business on Livernois Avenue.
According to authorities, a dispute broke out between Dandre Rashad Mitchell and three other men, including Snow. The argument allegedly intensified, leading Mitchell to produce a handgun and fire multiple shots. Snow was struck in the torso and found by responding officers bleeding heavily on the ground. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The two other victims, aged 19 and 26, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
In the days following the shooting, the suspect, 36-year-old Dandre Rashad Mitchell of Detroit, turned himself in to the police on January 24, 2022. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office subsequently charged Mitchell with one count of first-degree murder for the death of Deante Snow. In addition, he faced two counts of assault with intent to murder and three counts of felony firearm.
Mitchell was arraigned on the charges on January 27, 2022, in 36th District Court, where his bond was set at $100,000 cash. The prosecutor's office filed an emergency motion regarding the bond. A probable cause conference was scheduled for February 10, 2022, with a preliminary examination set for February 17, 2022.
