In the spring of 2022, the life of 19-year-old Laryus Dottery was tragically cut short by gun violence in Ypsilanti, Michigan. On the evening of May 14, a fatal encounter unfolded near the BP Dairy Mart on Textile Road, ending in Dottery's death.
Responding to the incident, law enforcement officers found themselves investigating a homicide. Their inquiries quickly led them to a suspect, 18-year-old Davion Christopher Brooks.
In a turn of events, Brooks was identified as a person of interest after he sought medical treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained during the same incident that claimed Dottery's life. Following his treatment, Brooks was taken into custody by the authorities.
