In the late summer of 2022, the Ypsilanti community was shaken by the violent death of 17-year-old Deshawn Lamar Patterson. On August 20, 2022, the young man's life was cut short by gunfire. Born on May 12, 2005, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Patterson was a local youth whose sudden passing prompted an outpouring of grief and a demand for answers.
