In the winter of 1903, a male lawman named Walker Cobb lost his life in the line of duty in Saucier, Mississippi. On Christmas Day, Deputy Town Marshal Cobb was attempting to arrest a man who was causing a disturbance due to being intoxicated. During the attempt to take the disorderly man into custody, the situation escalated tragically. The suspect produced a firearm and fatally shot Deputy Cobb.
