Patrolman Leonard Conerely, aged 31, tragically lost his life on December 7, 1978, in Columbia, Mississippi. He was a dedicated officer with the Columbia Police Department, having served for seven years. On the day of his death, Patrolman Conerely responded to a call about a man brandishing a gun.
