In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 26, 2021, a dispute in Columbia, Mississippi, turned fatal, claiming the life of 26-year-old Chadrick Devon Daniel. Marion County Sheriff's deputies were called to a residence at 83 Arthur B. Johnson Drive in the Lampton community following a report of a possible shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Chadrick Daniel unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response and efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that another man, Anthony Poole Jr., also 26 and from Memphis, was present at the scene and sustained minor injuries during the incident. Poole was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he was questioned by investigators. Chadrick Daniel was a 2013 graduate of East Marion High School and was employed at Southern Hen. He was remembered by his family as a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and father who had a passion for sports, especially basketball, and cherished spending time with his family and friends. His untimely death left a void in the lives of those who knew him.
In an unrelated incident years earlier, in August of 2015, Chadrick Devon Daniel, then 20 years old, was one of four individuals arrested in connection with the shooting death of 31-year-old Brandon Penry of Columbia. Penry was found deceased in a wrecked SUV on Baxterville Road in Pearl River County with multiple gunshot wounds. In that case, Daniel, along with two others, was charged with tampering with physical evidence and accessory after the fact to murder. Another suspect was charged with murder.
