In the winter of 2017, the community of Columbia, Mississippi, was shaken by the discovery of the body of a local man. On February 18th, the remains of 50-year-old Marcus Christopher, a Black / African American male, were found discarded in a ditch off Wesley Road. The initial discovery prompted an immediate and thorough investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Department, who quickly determined that Christopher's death was not accidental but a homicide.
