In the summer of 1979, the community of Port Gibson, Mississippi, was shaken by a violent home invasion that claimed the life of 39-year-old John Robert Cade. On the evening of July 5th, an intruder forced their way into Cade's home, and the encounter turned deadly when Cade was shot with a. 32 caliber revolver. He succumbed to his injuries the following day, on July 6, 1979. The male victim's death left a lingering sense of fear and unanswered questions in the small town.
