In the late winter of 2023, the community of Laurinburg, North Carolina, was struck by the unsettling disappearance of Brenda Douglas Covington, a 70-year-old resident known for her daily walks. On February 23, 2023, Ms. Covington left her home on Highland Road for what was believed to be her routine stroll.
