Joseph Edd Roberts, a Deputy Sheriff with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department in Mississippi, tragically lost his life on September 3, 1977, at the age of 73. Deputy Roberts was attempting to arrest a suspect for burglary when he was shot and killed with his own weapon. This incident marked the end of his 12-year service with the department.
