Charles J. Miller, aged 58, tragically lost his life on July 8, 2003, in a mass shooting at the Lockheed Martin plant in Meridian, Mississippi. The perpetrator, Douglas Williams, was an assembly line worker at the plant who had a history of making racist remarks and threats towards his coworkers. On the day of the incident, Williams attended a mandatory ethics and diversity class but left abruptly, returning armed with a 12-gauge shotgun and a Ruger Mini-14 rifle.
