Judge Dan Fairly, a respected Rankin County Chancery Judge, was found dead on April 3, 2015, near the Natchez Trace at the intersection with Mississippi 43. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) ruled his death a suicide, confirming that Fairly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
