In the early hours of July 5, 2015, a dispute that began inside Club Embassy in Waynesboro, Mississippi, spilled out into the parking lot and ended in the tragic death of 37-year-old Douglas McGill. The Black male was shot and killed during the altercation, which was described by authorities as a confrontation between individuals from different parts of the town rather than a gang-related incident. The violence that erupted that night sent ripples through the local community.
The investigation into McGill's death quickly identified two men as suspects. One of the men, 26-year-old Antonio McDougle, turned himself in to the Wayne County Police Department on the same day as the shooting. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault. A judge set his bond at $1.5 million. McDougle was taken into custody and held at the Wayne County Detention Center.
The second suspect, 24-year-old Franchez Worsham, was also identified in connection with the fatal shooting. Authorities charged Worsham with three counts of accessory after the fact and one count of aggravated assault. While McDougle was apprehended, Worsham remained at large following the incident, with law enforcement actively seeking his whereabouts to bring him to justice for his alleged involvement in the events that led to Douglas McGill's death.
