In the spring of 2016, a burst of violence in Jackson, Mississippi, cut short the life of 23-year-old Rodney L. Odie. On Tuesday, March 8th, Odie was in the driver's seat of his Honda Accord in northeast Jackson when he was fatally wounded by a single gunshot to the neck. He died at the scene.
