On a late Wednesday evening in June of 2019, the life of 18-year-old Amber Horton was tragically cut short. The young female was a passenger in a friend's car, traveling down Highway 151 south of Pageland, South Carolina, around 11 p.m. on June 19th, when a dark blue Dodge Charger began to follow them.
From the driver's side of the Charger, several shots were fired into the vehicle carrying Horton. She was struck once in the upper torso.
Rushed to a hospital in Monroe, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Witnesses at the scene identified the driver of the Dodge Charger as 19-year-old Ryu Deshawn Hough.
Following the incident, law enforcement began a search for Hough, considering him to be armed and dangerous. A few days later, he turned himself in to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office. Hough was subsequently arrested and faced a number of serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, shooting into a motor vehicle, and the use of a weapon in the commission of a violent crime. A judge later denied him bond.
