In the quiet town of Pageland, South Carolina, the life of 33-year-old Shannon Rasheal Little was tragically cut short on the evening of October 25, 2015. What began as a domestic dispute at her home on Evans Mill Road escalated into a chaotic and violent shootout that would leave two people dead and another wounded.
That Sunday evening, Chesterfield County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered a scene of mayhem.
Two men, Tyvon Terrell Threatt and Luther Ray Chambers Jr., were found outside the residence with gunshot wounds. Inside the home were Shannon Little and her three children. The situation quickly intensified when Shannon's husband, Rashawn Montez Little, emerged and opened fire on the responding officers.
A gun battle ensued between Rashawn Little and the deputies. During the exchange of gunfire, Shannon Little was fatally wounded inside her home. In the aftermath, there were conflicting accounts of who fired the shot that killed her. One of her children, who witnessed the traumatic event, reportedly told officers that they were responsible for her mother's death. However, the investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division would later lead to Rashawn Little being charged with her murder.
After the shootout, Rashawn Little fled the scene, leading to an extensive manhunt that lasted for hours. He was eventually captured and taken into custody. In addition to the death of his wife, 19-year-old Tyvon Terrell Threatt also succumbed to his injuries.
Rashawn Montez Little was subsequently charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of his wife, Shannon Little, and Tyvon Threatt. He also faced six counts of attempted murder for firing at the law enforcement officers who responded to the scene, and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Following a trial, a jury found him guilty on all charges. For his crimes, Rashawn Little was sentenced to life in prison, bringing a somber conclusion to a case that began with a domestic disturbance and ended in multiple senseless deaths. His subsequent appeal of the convictions was denied by the South Carolina Court of Appeals in December 2023.
