In the summer of 2017, the life of 22-year-old Anderson White III was tragically cut short in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The series of events that led to his death began on the evening of June 29th, when he was shot during a robbery. Law enforcement was initially called to the vicinity of Military and Roosevelt Avenue after reports of gunfire, but they found no immediate evidence of a crime.
The grim reality of the situation began to unfold the following morning. Around 10:45 a.m.
on June 30th, police discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a sign. The car had been driven by White, and the presence of biological evidence at the scene indicated that a violent act had occurred. A short time later, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the search for White ended in heartbreak when his body was discovered by family and friends in a wooded area in the 2000 block of Military Avenue.
The investigation into White's death moved swiftly, leading to the apprehension of two primary suspects. Seventeen-year-old Robert Harris and another individual, Xavier Clark, were taken into custody and faced charges of capital murder and armed robbery. Authorities identified Harris as the person who shot White. Both Harris and Clark were held on a $3 million bond. The case expanded as the investigation continued, resulting in further arrests. Deangelo Fields, 20, and Patrick Chambers, 19, were charged with accessory after the fact to capital murder, accused of trying to sell a handgun believed to be the murder weapon. Additionally, 23-year-old Kathleen Barnes was also arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact to capital murder.
