In the spring of 2020, the life of 18-year-old Deion Crudup was cut tragically short in Horn Lake, Mississippi. On the evening of April 27th, law enforcement responded to a call in the 2800 block of Devon Circle. Upon arrival, they discovered Crudup suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was a Black/African American male. Emergency services rushed him to Regional One Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The Horn Lake police immediately began an investigation into the
shooting. Their work quickly led them to a person of interest. Officers in the vicinity of the crime scene encountered Damien Deangelo Love, who was walking nearby and was armed. During questioning by the authorities, Love admitted to having shot Deion Crudup.
Following his confession, Damien Deangelo Love was taken into custody and formally charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the DeSoto County Jail to await bond. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man, as the legal process against the accused began to unfold, with many following the case in the hopes of finding justice for Crudup.
