On September 7, 2020, a violent incident occurred in Vicksburg, Mississippi, claiming the life of Keilyn Royale John Cessna, a 14-year-old Black male. The teenager was walking in the city during the overnight hours when he was struck by gunfire. The shooting took place on a Monday, which coincided with the Labor Day holiday that year. First responders arrived at the scene to find the young victim suffering from critical injuries.
