On May 10, 2023, a fatal shooting incident occurred in Vicksburg, Mississippi, resulting in the death of DeMarcus Dequarius Smith, a 25-year-old resident of the area. The Vicksburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6 p.m. that evening.
