In the autumn of 2020, a life was tragically cut short on a Tuesday evening in Jackson, Mississippi. Eddie Goliday Brown, a 28-year-old Black male, found himself in a fatal altercation on October 20th. The incident unfolded just before 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Raymond Road. An argument escalated to a point of no return, and Brown was fatally shot.
His death marked the 107th homicide in the city that year.
The Jackson Police Department responded to the scene and began an investigation into the deadly encounter. Their work led them to identify a suspect, 48-year-old Benjamin White. Following the investigation, White was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Eddie Goliday Brown. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced legal trouble for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case against Benjamin White moved through the legal system, aiming to bring a measure of justice for the untimely death of the young man.
