In the early morning hours, the familiar surroundings of the M&M Food Express in south Jackson, Mississippi, became a scene of violence that ended the life of a beloved neighborhood figure. Roy Love, a 60-year-old man, was diligently at his post as a security guard, a job he undertook to protect the local business and its patrons. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 8, 2024, he approached a group of three teenagers and requested that they leave the property.
This routine request, however, took a tragic and unforeseen turn.
The interaction quickly escalated into a fatal assault. The three teenagers attacked Love, overpowering him and seizing his firearm.
