In the late winter of 2021, a dispute between two individuals in Greenwood, Mississippi, ended in tragedy, claiming the life of 17-year-old Jeffrey Gillespie. On the evening of February 28, 2021, on the 200 block of Avenue H, a heated argument escalated to the point of gunfire. Responding to a call of shots fired, Greenwood police discovered Gillespie with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Greenwood Leflore Hospital for medical attention.
