In the late hours of a September day in Greenwood, Mississippi, a meeting turned deadly, leaving a young man's life cut short. Keyshawn Bennett, a 26-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on September 3, 2023, in what law enforcement officials have described as a drug transaction that spiraled into violence. The incident unfolded at the David Jordan Apartments, where Bennett and another individual had reportedly arranged to meet with an 18-year-old.

The initial encounter quickly escalated, resulting in gunfire that claimed Bennett's life at the scene. Greenwood Police Chief Terrence Craft characterized the fatal event as a 'drug deal gone bad,' highlighting the inherent dangers of such activities. The city's police department immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, signaling a determined effort to bring those responsible to justice.

In the weeks that followed, the investigation made significant progress. By early November 2023, law enforcement authorities had identified and apprehended multiple suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Ultimately, four individuals were charged in relation to Keyshawn Bennett's death. Among them was 20-year-old Dominic Doss of Greenwood, who faced a charge of capital murder and was held without bond at the Leflore County Jail. The arrests of multiple suspects suggested a complex scenario surrounding the events that led to the deadly outcome.
