In the quiet streets of Yazoo City, Mississippi, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of March 13, 2021, forever altering the lives of a local family and sending ripples of shock through the community. On that Saturday, just after 7:30 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the calm on 11th Street near Prentiss Avenue. When the echoes faded, 13-year-old DMontae Lee, a young male, was found lying in the street, his bicycle beside him. He had been shot multiple times.
