Rothelio Sanders, a 28-year-old Black male, lost his life on September 8, 2024, following a violent incident in Yazoo City, Mississippi. The fatal encounter occurred during the early morning hours outside a business situated in the 600 block of Broadway. According to local officials, the situation began as an alcohol-fueled dispute in a nightclub parking lot, which rapidly escalated into a shooting.
Emergency responders, specifically Pafford paramedics, arrived at the scene where they
found Sanders suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite their presence, the Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers pronounced him dead at the location. The violence of the night marked a tragic end for the Yazoo City resident, drawing attention from local law enforcement and the community.
Following the shooting, police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sanders' death. Authorities identified a suspect, Zachery Carter, in connection with the homicide. Carter was subsequently taken into custody and placed behind bars. Law enforcement officials charged him with murder as a result of the investigation into the events that unfolded that weekend.
