In the early morning hours of April 22, 2020, 63-year-old John Felton, a Black male, was found shot to death outside of his residence at the Oakhaven Apartments in Yazoo City, Mississippi. The investigation into his death quickly pointed to a violent robbery.

Within a day, law enforcement arrested 19-year-old Alonzo Alexander and charged him with capital murder in connection with Felton's death. During the arrest, investigators recovered items that had been stolen from Felton, as well as ...
