James Cox, a 27-year-old man from Jackson, Mississippi, was killed in a shooting at a home on Pinebrook Drive on April 16, 2021, one of three lives taken there in a single burst of violence. Local coverage later identified him more fully as James Charles Cornelius Cox and placed him firmly in the fabric of the city, noting that he was remembered by name in his hometown paper and that he worked for his father, a detail preserved on an online gun violence memorial page created in his honor.
