In the late hours of a Sunday in August 2018, Jonathan Vickers, a 25-year-old white male, was fatally shot at a residence on Maria Drive in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident, which marked the city's 56th homicide of the year, is believed by police to have been a robbery.
According to witness accounts, three armed males, described as Black, approached Vickers while he was under the carport of the home.
The suspects, who wore dark clothing and had their faces partially covered, fired multiple shots at Vickers before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
When Jackson Police Department officers arrived at the 1600 block of Maria Drive shortly after 10:30 p.m., they found Vickers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. At the time of the initial reports, the three suspects remained at large, and authorities were seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. There have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the murder of Jonathan Vickers.
