In the early morning hours of April 17, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the night outside a club on Bailey Avenue in Jackson, Mississippi, leaving two young men dead. One of the victims was 20-year-old Cleophus Walker III. He, along with 24-year-old Richard Tanner, was fatally shot in what the club's owner described as an ambush that occurred around 1:00 a.m. before they could even make it inside the establishment.
