On a Sunday afternoon in late April 2021, in the small town of Edwards, Mississippi, Marcus Butler, a 32-year-old man, was shot to death inside a modest home on Middle Road after what authorities described as a violent domestic dispute. Deputies from the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office were called to the house for a report of a disturbance between a husband and wife.
