In the late hours of a Monday evening in Edwards, Mississippi, the life of 21-year-old D'Aaron Kortez Carter, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On June 24, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Carter was a passenger in a vehicle on Willie V. Crump Lane when the car was ambushed. Three individuals, all dressed in black, unleashed a barrage of gunfire at the vehicle. Investigators later recovered over 60 shell casings from the scene, a testament to the intensity of the assault.
