Nathan Carter, a 50-year-old Army veteran, was found deceased in his vehicle on July 24, 2021, in Meridian, Mississippi. The vehicle was located in the vicinity of the Village Apartments and a CEFCO convenience store on Mosby Road. An investigation into his death determined that he had been fatally shot.
Subsequent police work, which included the review of video evidence, led to the identification of a suspect. A 16-year-old female, Saharra Carr, was identified as the shooter. Authorities believe an altercation occurred prior to the shooting. At the time of the incident, Carr was out on a $25,000 bond for a previous armed robbery charge and was residing at the Village Apartments.
In connection with the death of Nathan Carter, Saharra Carr turned herself in to the Meridian Police Department on July 29, 2021. She was subsequently charged with murder. Due to the severity of the crime, Carr is being charged as an adult. A judge set her bond at $1 million during her initial court appearance. She was then held at the Kemper County Jail. A preliminary hearing in her case was scheduled for August 12, 2021.
