On a November morning in 2021, the life of 21-year-old William Devontev Tellis III was cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. Around 11 a.m. on November 8th, Tellis was shot multiple times on Capitol Street and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The male victim's death quickly transitioned from a tragic event to a homicide investigation.
Shortly after the shooting, a 16-year-old male named Gregdrick Brown turned himself in to the authorities.
Brown admitted to his involvement in the shooting, providing a narrative of the events that led to the fatal encounter. He claimed that the incident was preceded by an altercation at a nearby gas station, during which Tellis allegedly chased him with a broken beer bottle. According to Brown's account, he then retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and shot Tellis.
Following his confession and arrest, the case against Gregdrick Brown moved through the legal system. He was subsequently convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. The trial brought a conclusion to the investigation, officially holding Brown responsible for the death of William Devontev Tellis III. He is set to be sentenced for the crime.
