In the early morning hours of January 24, 2024, a dispute at a gas station in Jackson, Mississippi, turned deadly, claiming the life of 47-year-old Rodger Fulgham. The Black/African American male became involved in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical fight. The confrontation culminated in Fulgham being fatally shot.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the 4400 block of Medgar Evers Boulevard.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but Fulgham was pronounced dead upon their arrival. The Hinds County Coroner's office later officially identified him as the victim.
Following an investigation by the Jackson Police Department, a suspect was identified and apprehended. Jeremiah Williams, 24 years old, was arrested on January 26, 2024, in connection with the shooting. He has since been charged with the murder of Rodger Fulgham. As of late January 2024, Williams was awaiting his initial court appearance.
