On December 8, 2021, at approximately 10:00 p.m., 23-year-old Michael "Mikey" E. Hughes was fatally shot on Fred Bacot Road in Summit, Mississippi. Pike County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and found Hughes suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was transported to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
