Michael 'Mikey' E. Hughes, a 23-year-old male, was killed by gun violence on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Summit, Mississippi. His passing was publicly announced by Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS. Friends and family described him as a loving and caring person who was the 'life of the party' and full of life. He attended North Pike High School and worked as a metal building hand.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of Martell Williams, 20, of McComb.
Williams was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hughes's death. The Pike County Sheriff's Department, with assistance from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Department of Corrections, took Williams into custody on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. He was subsequently booked into the Pike County Jail.
