In the summer of 2021, the life of 20-year-old Derecus Antonio Conerly, a Black male from Summit, Mississippi, was tragically cut short in a case that continues to baffle investigators. Conerly was reported missing by his concerned family on June 26, 2021. A grim discovery was made two days later, on June 28, when his body was found inside a burned-out vehicle on Jeanette Lane, just outside of Summit in Pike County.
