In the early hours of a Friday morning in Jackson, Mississippi, the life of Travis Hicks, a 34-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On February 11, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Hicks was seated in his gold SUV on Ellis Avenue, near an O'Reilly Auto Parts, when he was shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, marking the 16th homicide in the city for that year.
