In the early morning hours of March 1, 2022, in Moss Point, Mississippi, a tragic event unfolded that claimed the lives of two men. Marcus Davison, a 42-year-old male, and Tremaine Moore, 38, were found deceased from gunshot wounds in the yard of a residence on the 6000 block of Elder Street. The discovery was made by police who responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement encountered Willie Hurd, a 43-year-old man from Moss Point, who was at the location and had sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. It was Hurd who informed the officers of the two other shooting victims at the home. He was subsequently transported to Singing River Hospital for medical treatment for his injury.

As the investigation progressed, detectives from the Moss Point Police Department, with assistance from the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team, the Pascagoula Police Department Crime Scene Unit, and investigators from the Jackson County District Attorney's Office, uncovered evidence that implicated Hurd in the deaths of Davison and Moore. A search warrant was executed at Hurd's residence, where authorities also discovered marijuana.

Following his release from the hospital, Willie Hurd was taken into custody and faced multiple serious charges. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Marcus Davison and Tremaine Moore. In addition to the murder charges, Hurd was also charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
