Michael David Porter, a 44-year-old resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, tragically lost his life on October 23, 2008, in Moss Point, Mississippi. Porter and his wife had stopped at a Conoco gas station in Moss Point to ask for directions to their grandson's football game in Pascagoula. During this stop, a group of teenagers attempted to rob Porter. In the ensuing struggle, Porter was shot in the left side as he was getting back into his car.
