In Meridian, Mississippi, on the evening of Sunday, March 6, 2022, a sense of disquiet settled over the 2100 block of 43rd Avenue as two separate, yet possibly connected, shootings shattered the calm. The first incident, which would be recorded as the city's initial homicide of the year, claimed the life of 21-year-old Quadarius Short.
