In the spring of 2022, a violent act shattered the peace of a Greenville, Mississippi neighborhood and ended the life of 43-year-old Timothy Lewis. On the afternoon of April 9th, officers from the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to Redbud Street where they discovered Lewis unresponsive, having sustained what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The initial investigation pointed to a swift and brutal encounter, leaving a community in shock and a family to grapple with a sudden and tragic loss.
The response from law enforcement was immediate and effective. Within minutes of the shooting, officers apprehended a suspect identified as Charlie Johnson. Investigators were able to locate and secure critical physical evidence, including Johnson's vehicle and a pistol believed to be the weapon used in the killing.
