In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in Greenville, Mississippi, the life of a promising young athlete was tragically cut short. Alex Foster, an 18-year-old male, was discovered inside a vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Greenville Police Department received a call about shots fired in the vicinity of 1800 East Alexander Street at approximately 12:11 a.m. on May 28, 2025.
Upon their arrival, officers found the wounded young man and he was swiftly transported to the Delta Health Center for emergency medical attention. Despite the efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries less than an hour after the shooting.
Foster was a celebrated football standout from his hometown, a graduate of St. Joseph High School where he had been a highly-rated defensive lineman. His talent on the field had earned him a spot on the Baylor University football team, and he was the highest-rated signee in their 2024 recruiting class. The Baylor community, including his coaches and teammates, expressed profound grief over the devastating loss of a young man they described as a beloved teammate and friend.
