In the summer of 2022, a young man's life was cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. Eighteen-year-old Antonyo Dequrious Esco, a male, was shot and killed on the night of Sunday, August 21. The fatal encounter took place at the Village Apartments, where Esco was reportedly involved in the sale of a firearm. The transaction turned deadly when the prospective buyer allegedly took the weapon and used it to end Esco's life.
Just a few months prior to his death, Antonyo Dequrious Esco had his own
encounters with the law. In February of that same year, he was arrested by the Jackson Police Department on serious charges that included armed carjacking and capital murder. Despite the gravity of these accusations, a Hinds County Court judge remanded the most severe charges back to the municipal court. Esco was subsequently able to secure his release on a $25,000 bond for a lesser charge of crack cocaine possession.
Following the shooting that claimed Esco's life, the Jackson Police Department began an investigation into the homicide. In the immediate aftermath, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the killing. As of late August 2022, the case remained unsolved, leaving the circumstances surrounding the deadly gun deal and the identity of the shooter a mystery to the public.
