The call to emergency services came in around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, September 24.
Upon their arrival, Columbus Police Department officers discovered the gravely injured Reed. He was not a resident of the apartment complex, and what brought him there that fateful night remains unclear. Paramedics rushed him to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, but his injuries proved too severe. He was pronounced dead in the early moments of September 25, 2022. His body was subsequently sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
