On December 21, 2023, Jerome Taylor, a 49-year-old resident of Columbus, Mississippi, was found deceased in the yard of a residence on the 1500 block of 21st Street North. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots around 7 p.m. on December 20, but no one contacted the police at that time. Taylor's body was discovered the following morning, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
