In the days leading up to Christmas, a sense of unease settled over a Columbus, Mississippi neighborhood. On the evening of Wednesday, December 20, 2023, residents on 21st Street North reported hearing gunshots, but no calls were made to the police. The following morning, Thursday, December 21, 2023, the tragic outcome of those sounds became devastatingly clear.
