In the late fall of 1892, the life of Oliver 'Ol' Yantis, a 23-year-old former cotton farmer, came to a violent end near Orlando, Oklahoma Territory. Yantis, a male, had fallen in with the notorious Doolin-Dalton Gang, trading his life on the farm for one of crime. His association with the gang began after he was recruited by George 'Bitter Creek' Newcomb, who was romantically involved with Yantis's sister.
