In the winter of 2012, a visit to a friend turned tragic for Maegin Colleen Gravitt, a 30-year-old mother. On the evening of December 4th, Maegin was at the Drover's Inn in Oklahoma City when gunfire erupted. Police were called to the motel at approximately 9:15 p.m. after a witness reported hearing shots.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Maegin in room 215. She had been struck by the gunfire and was rushed to a local hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal.
While bullets had also hit two other rooms at the motel, Maegin was the only person injured in the incident. Investigators believe she may have been an unintended victim of a drive-by shooting, simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a white Oldsmobile fleeing the area, heading south on I-35, immediately after the shooting. Despite this lead, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Maegin Gravitt. Her death was recorded as the 91st homicide in Oklahoma City for that year. Born on October 3, 1982, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Maegin was a daughter and a sister, and her case remains an unsolved homicide.
