In the spring of 2014, a sense of loss enveloped a community in Oklahoma City. Latisha Shaw, an 18-year-old Black female, was just on the cusp of her adult life, with dreams and aspirations ahead of her. She was expecting a child, a new life that was tragically cut short before it could even begin. On the evening of March 31, 2014, a dispute escalated into a moment of irreversible violence. A single gunshot ended Latisha’s life, and with it, the life of her unborn baby.
